Touchstones for the rest of Lent:
Beginning next week I’m going to be doing something a little different. For the following six Wednesdays of Lent I’m going to do a series based on The Passion According to Saint John. This is a composition I did for the choir over 12 years ago and which we have heard every year on Good Friday, until last year when we were shut down by the pandemic.
It’s a piece in six movements and I’m going to talk about each one of them every week and include a recording of the passion movement for that week. I’m hoping simply to open up the musical ideas a little so that you may use the piece of music for prayer in a year when we won’t get to hear it performed live on Good Friday, the way we are used to.
My hope is that as we begin to understand the music behind the text, it will open up new abilities to use the piece as a prayerful experience even when we’re not gathered. I believe that music reaches a different part of our spirit than does simple prose. I also hope it will be a helpful reflection to remind us that every week of our Lent is a journey focused on bringing us into Holy Week and on to Easter.
Mass reminders for Lent:
We are now celebrating weekend masses at 4:30pm on Saturdays, as well as 7:30am and 9am on Sundays. All masses will be utilizing both the Church and the new Parish Hall. In the Parish Hall the mass will be on screen and Eucharist will be brought to those who are in attendance.
Daily mass will be celebrated on Wednesday and Friday at 8:30am. These masses are for those who are 65 years of age and older and who do not feel comfortable attending the weekend masses yet.
**For weekend masses: Please note that the signups will include the number for both spaces (160 persons). The first 100 to arrive at mass will be seated in the Church and then we will begin to seat people in the Parish Hall.
Starting Palm Sunday, we are planning on adding our 10:45am mass back into our regular Sunday schedule. On Easter, we will have two separate signups: one for the Church/Parish Hall, and one for the Gym.

Have a great season and God Bless,
