Music has always been an easy way for me to express myself. Certainly in these final weeks here at MPB, as so many thoughts and feelings have come, I have been happy to have this outlet. And so, for this final Touchstone that I’ll be doing from Most Precious Blood, I chose music. I can always find God in the music.
This previous Sunday, I did a sneaky thing. The choir and I prepared a short concert (although it turned out not quite as short as we thought)! The choir each invited a guest and I invited a few other people just to have enough audience to create a little “concert energy.” Consider this a sort of good-bye gift to the parish, given in a way with which I find a lot of comfort.
So this video is that gift. It is both a farewell to the parish as well as a little bit of a retrospective of the journey that has brought me this far and has given me a deep sense of trust in my journey that is yet to come. I have come to believe that it is when we learn to see the God who has been with us all along, that we can’t help but see the guiding God who is yet to come.
I really have no language to express all that this parish has come to mean to me. Combining friends and music with some message provides me with the closest substitute I can find. As we each move forward from here, in all that you do, trust God and care for one another. I will always keep you in prayer. Please keep me in prayer as well.
God bless,
Father Pat
