"A Hope for Ages" by Fr. Patrick Dolan
In a world of voices raised in heartache and in pain;
crying out in loneliness and fear;
leaving those who hear to feel their lives are lived in vain,
You sing out a story to revere.
Parables of life; and psalms of triumph:
You make known God's Word and
I see a hope for ages; I find a perfect peace.
In my heart you stir the echo: feed the poor; welcome home the stranger;
and share the love of God; to know the word of God.
Thousands fleeing hunger and oppression find our shore;
homeless seeking refuge, needing care;
Call us now, you prophets, with your voices of the poor
Make of us the answer to their prayer.
Raise your hymns of praise, proclaim your gospel;
Making known God's Word and
I see a hope for ages; I find a perfect peace.
In my heart you stir the echo: feed the poor; welcome home the stranger;
and share the Love of God; to know the Love of God.
With every tender telling these words increase
to inspire new generations to foster peace.
Now with every breath, your words can guide me
turning me from death, these songs inside me;
Grace that enters in; music floods the soul;
joy that frees the captive spirit each and every time I hear it:
I'll see a hope for ages; I'll find a perfect peace.
In my life heart you stir the echo: feed the poor; heal the loss;
end the war; bear the cross to welcome in the stranger.
And share the love of God to know the Love of God.
Become the Word of God.
